Why Both Women's Liberation and Male Domination Have it Wrong

I'd write more about this, but Elder Hafen of the Seventy and his wife wrote such an inspired, beautiful article, anything I could say would amount to "what he said!" It is a wonderful explanation of what it means to be equal partners in marriage—that equality comes through mutual submission, not mutual independence.

  1. Or, as Elder Hafen described it, "interdependence". We need each other. Our needs are best met as we serve each other. Mutual submission is the ideal, as demonstrated by the Savior. Blessed is the marriage where both understand and practice that ideal. Thanks for the link to the article. It has been years since I have read that. Cheers!

  2. Elder Hafen, thank you. It has been changed. I really shouldn't type first thing in the morning after an overly long night.

  3. I love this concept of interdependence in marriage. To me, this is the ideal- that husband and wife create a synergy. In "real" life though, I find this very difficult to achieve. But I suppose it wouldn't be worthwhile if it were easy (although for some it probably is easy).
